Continuing their advocacy of alleviating poverty through education via child sponsorship, World Vision Philippines is now celebrating the 5th anniversary of the women empowering project “Girls Can.”
The objective of the “Girls Can” campaign is to empower women at an early age through education, child protection from violence, health and nutrition, and livelihood. With these pillars, it plays a vital role in helping young women develop their full potential to reach their dreams with the support of World Vision PH and sponsors/supporters of “Girls Can.”
During the 5th anniversary of “Girls Can” at Ayala Malls By The Bay, World Vision Ambassador Bianca Umali shared the importance of self-care. According to her, self-care may vary for everyone and how they find comfort and see themselves at their best. She shared that her grandmother’s way of self-care is through praying, while her sister’s is through watching her favorite programs, and for her, self-care is through investing in herself and helping others.
The Kapuso actress also encouraged everyone to join the “Girls Can” project by sponsoring children through World Vision PH, so that they can help fulfill their dreams, as many young girls don’t have the opportunity to receive proper education and are vulnerable to violence.
Meanwhile, World Vision PH Youth Leader Ashana Belarmido and Kamille Tingzon shared how they overcame challenges in life. Kamille, who is living with down syndrome, never sees her situation as a hindrance to her dreams. Now she is a Special Olympics athlete and also a zumba instructor.
Also present at the event were Ayn Bernos and Joyce Pring-Triviño, both child sponsors who shared that they find meaning in life by sponsoring children through World Vision PH and by helping them with their dreams.
Theater actress and singer Aicelle Santos-Zambrano, who revealed that she’s expecting a daughter in her second pregnancy, she is very happy to be part of the “Girls Can” project of World Vision PH. According to her, giving girls the potential to reach their dream will make a great impact in the society.
The show ended with World Vision PH’s long-time ambassador, Christian Bautista, encouraging everyone to be part of a meaningful endeavor, which is to give children the opportunity to fulfill their dreams through sponsorship that provides them education, nutritional food, and protection.
