While preparations are reportedly being done for the show’s highly-anticipated finale, the top rating Kapamilya action-drama is yet to contend with its 6th rival show from the Kapuso Network.
Since debuting in November, last year, primetime series, The Iron HeartHeart, has been seemingly following FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s path, not only in the context of the two shows being both action dramas, but also in the fact that both series have outlasted more rival shows on air, than most recent teleseryes. In the Richard Gutierrez’s show’s case, it has so far seen five rival shows bidding adieu.
During its pilot episode on November 14, 2022, The Iron Heart first went against GMA Network’s adaptation of the South Korean drama, Start-Up, starring Alden Richards and Bea Alonzo. It was eventually replaced by the mini-series, The Flower Sisters, which originally aired on the third slot, in January this year.
‘Caught In His Arms, the first installment ot the romance anthology, Luv Is, debuted on January 16. The Sofia Pablo-Allen Ansay-led series, bade farewell on March 10. As The Iron HeartHeart’s 4th rival Kapuso show, sports drama, Hearts On Ice, debuted on March 13. It was Xian Lim’s first full-length TV series , after the limited series, False Positive. It concluded on June 16.
Currently airing on the second slot of GMA Telebabad, is Kapuso Primetime King, Dingdong Dantes’ Royal BloodBlood, which has been registering record-high ratings, for a second slot primetime series.
Slated to replace Royal Blood this September, is Dennis Trillo and Bea Alonzo’s reunion series, Love Before Sunrise. It will be the sixth Kapuso series to rival the Kapamilya action-drama, in nine months.
Will that be the last? As the director of ‘The Iron Heart’ Lester Pimentel confirmed that preparations are underway, for the series’ finale, it seems that may be the case. Let’s see if stronger performance in the TV ratings and online concurrent viewership game, will prompt the showrunners and ABS-CBN to reverse such impending finale.
