The regulation agency released an official statement today, September 4, regarding its decision to suspend noontime show, It’s Showtime.
Kapuso head writer, Suzette Doctolero, shared her thoughts on the recent 12-day suspension, imposed by the Movie and Television Regulation and Classification Board (MTRCB) against the noontime show, It’s Showtime. The imposition is linked to the viral cake icing incident that happened on the Isip Bata segment on the July 25, 2023 episode of the show.
Doctolero has expressed her support for the Vice Ganda-led noontime show, multiple times, following its move to GMA Network-owned GTV Channel. Today, September 4, she once again stamped her support for the show, as she called for fairness and healthy competition. She has this to say in a post on X.
“Competition fuels progress. Instead of resorting to extreme measures that could be perceived as undermining the rival show, I hope MTRCB aspires to promote healthy competition in the world of television. This is the only way to ensure our industry’s growth, ” she said, underscoring what the said decision might implicate, especially on the healthy competition between television programs.

Lala Sotto, the current MTRCB chair, has been notably confronted with allegations of being unfair and bias, as well as conflict of interest complaints, as she is the daughter of one of the noontime shows, competing against It’s Showtime. The regulation agency made mention of several prior complaints versus the noontime show, that prompted Sotto to implement the suspension order.
It remains to be seen what replacement show ABS-CBN will place on the time slot that It’s Showtime will vacate.
