Controversial social media personality Rendon Labador seems to have directed his criticisms toward fans of the Unkabogable Star and ‘It’s Showtime’ host, Vice Ganda, following what he perceived as an attack on his idol.
Labador’s actions come in the wake of a recent incident involving Joey De Leon, a host on the noontime show ‘E.A.T.,’ who is currently under scrutiny for his “lubid” statement.
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) released a statement on Monday, September 25, addressing the issue surrounding Joey’s remark during a segment of ‘E.A.T. Gimme 5’ that aired on September 23, 2023.
In the segment, Joey and Vic Sotto, the main hosts, asked a contestant to name items typically hung around the neck, to which Joey responded with “lubid, lubid. Nakakalimutan n’yo”. This remark was met with criticism on social media.
The MTRCB’s statement read, “Taking cognizance of the complaints from the viewing public in relation to E.A.T. Gimme 5 segment aired last 23 September 2023, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) shall determine if the same are valid and presumably violative of Presidential Decree No. 1986 and/or its Implementing Rules and Regulations.”
Despite his recent absence from Facebook, where his account was reportedly mass reported, Labador took to Instagram to express his thoughts. He shared, “Joey, pasalamat ka wala na ako sa Facebook. Nakalusot ka ngayon.”
In another Instagram story, Labador revealed that some of Vice Ganda’s fans had messaged him, urging him to criticize ‘E.A.T.’ Labador suggested that he should continue to scrutinize the show because it seemed like MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto had no interest in addressing it.
It’s worth noting that Rendon Labador has faced restrictions on various social media platforms recently, including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Google, leading to speculation about his future in the online world.
Joey De Leon’s controversial remark and the ensuing reactions from both fans and critics continue to be a topic of discussion in the digital realm.
