The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) recently imposed a 12-day suspension on the popular noontime show ‘It’s Showtime.’
With 15 days left until the final verdict, the show’s fate remains uncertain pending an appeal to the Office of the President.
While Vice Ganda and the show’s statement maintain their innocence, questions have arisen about the potential impact of apologies from those involved in past violations.
Notable incidents include Wally Bayola’s profanity on ‘E.A.T.,’ Regine Tolentino’s nip slip on ‘It’s Showtime,’ and Daisuri Choi’s actions on ‘Eat Bulaga.’
MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto weighed in on the matter, expressing her belief that apologies could make a difference.
“Honestly, I personally think that, yes, it will help, but siyempre, may kanya-kanyang pag-iisip ang board. Hindi ko naman kontrolado ang kanilang kaisipan. Pero yes, makakatulong talaga,” she told Rose Garcia and other media people in an event.
In light of these developments, we sought the opinions of avid TV viewers, particularly parents, to gauge their reactions.
Many argued that there was no wrongdoing in the act performed by Vice Ganda and Ion Perez on ‘It’s Showtime.’ They viewed it as a harmless cake-icing moment devoid of any sexual implications, primarily understood by adults with an interpretative lens.
