Real-life celebrity couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes are gearing up for the production of their upcoming film ‘Rewind,’ which is set to be their entry for the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
This marks Marian Rivera’s much-anticipated return to the silver screen after a hiatus of four years.
The film, directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, is a collaborative effort between Star Cinema, Tony Tuviera’s APT Entertainment, and Dingdong Dantes’ Agosto Dos Media. ‘Rewind’ promises to be a powerful fantasy-drama that has generated immense excitement among fans eagerly awaiting its release.
Marian Rivera expressed her enthusiasm for the film and its inclusion in the prestigious MMFF, saying, “Excited kami na nakapasok ang ‘Rewind’ sa film festival. Sana ibalik natin ang pagtangkilik sa pelikulang Pilipino.”
The script for ‘Rewind,’ penned by Enrico Santos, had been ready as early as 2020. However, production was put on hold due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes were deeply moved by the script. Rivera shared that she read the script in just an hour, and it brought her to tears. Similarly, Dantes had previously read the script and was deeply moved, although he chose not to reveal anything to his wife.
Having been away from the camera for four years, Marian Rivera made her return to television before taking on the ‘Rewind’ project. She admitted that adjusting to acting again, including memorizing lines, was a challenge initially. However, she expressed her enthusiasm for the work and revealed that she always looks forward to their taping sessions.
Marian Rivera acknowledges the strong competition that ‘Rewind’ will face as an MMFF entry, with other films featuring renowned actresses like Sharon Cuneta, Vilma Santos, Nadine Lustre, and Nora Aunor. Nevertheless, she remains optimistic about the resurgence of Philippine cinema and hopes that the public will once again embrace the MMFF.
Due to their busy schedules, Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes may not be able to attend the ABS-CBN Ball scheduled for September 30, as they have received a schedule from Star Cinema.
Regarding future film projects, Marian Rivera expressed her willingness to collaborate with any Kapamilya star, emphasizing the importance of the project, story, and timing.
