On July 10, seasoned broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez revealed her plans to produce a movie.
In an intimate interview at the Via Mare Terraces in Quezon City, which LionhearTV covered, Sanchez discussed her plans with the film rights she bought, citing Hollywood movies that took their time before they began their production.
“I have a beautiful movie–I bought it, I bought the movie. It’s ang ganda. Sabi ko, we we’re pitching it, ang daming nagkakagusto but at that time ang gulo pa. In fact ngayon, magulo pa, and ayaw kong ibigay kung kanino lang. I want– it can wait.
“Ano ba itong success stories ng movies in Hollywood that waited ten years for the right producer to say yes, right? Mayroong mga example yan eh. Hindi ko alam kung John Wick ba ‘yan or something, but it really took a while, before somebody saw– nakita niya ‘yung ginto sa kwento na ‘to, na-envision, gumawa, pumatok.
“Andyan lang sya binili ko lang yung script, so one day sana, I hope to be able to produce that movie.”
She then disclosed the dark themes of the film she bought, noting its Korean film quality with its storytelling.
“It’s dark–it’s very dark, parang Korean. You know the Koreans are so good at what they do–their script writing is really impeccable. Not all but napapabilib ako sa character development nila, kasi all the while I was growing up, laman talaga ako ng movie, I devour everything, that’s why I think I have an eye for [good] scripts, and [good] editing, and good story and character development.”
She also hinted at possible teleserye projects she has in her portfolio as a producer.
“I have many series in my portfolio. [It’s just] right now, teka muna, [let’s] do one at a time. Then, when I mastered it, I would go into it na medyo remote control.Â
“Wala pang timeline, [I’m] about to pitch it to a group, but [let’s] see. Kasi [there’s ano–there’s] an artful side of me like I design my own clothes, [I design] my own furniture, mayroon akong ganong side sa artsy-side.”
As for Sanchez, she has her news magazine and lifestyle show ‘Rated Korina,’ formerly co-produced with Brightlight Productions, under a collaboration between her and ABS-CBN starting July 5.Â
She also has ‘Korina Interviews’ through the Net25 online platform.Â
Aside from her programs, she also has ‘Tiktalks’ with Pat-P Daza, G3 San Diego, Kakai Bautista, and Alex Calleja every Sunday on TV5.
