On July 10, seasoned broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez discussed her views with the collaboration of ABS-CBN and GMA Network.
In an intimate interview at the Via Mare Terraces in Quezon City, which LionhearTV covered, Sanchez remarked how the collaborations between networks signify the removal of delineation between media companies.
“First of all, I don’t believe in burning bridges and true enough now, the lines has no more delineation. Ngayon–‘yung mortal mo dati, BFF mo ngayon, such is life, and the most unheard and most improbable scenarios have happened–had the closure of ABS-CBN and now the merging of ABS-CBN and GMA, or that shows in ABS are also simultaneously seen on TV5.”
She also highlighted the changing landscape with the creatives in the media industry.
“And with the changing landscape and [creativity] is not monopolized. It’s free for all. So, even all of my creative ideas that I’ve had before that I wanted to do, we’re able to do, kaya mayroong TikTalks, Korina Interviews.
“So, I have three programs, [all at the same time,] because I started doing pitches and decks. And [a lot of] people had no work, kasi okay to. It became a venue for me to pitch eh nagre-green light ‘yung mga napi-pitch, so why not?”
Aside from her views about the ABS-CBN and GMA Network collaborations, Sanchez detailed how she returned to the Kapamilya camp thanks to a tip from Vice Ganda.
A few months later, who knew that Brightlight would say, ‘Okay, we’re downsizing!’ Brightlight gave me naman time to prepare and look for a producer.
“Vice texted me, ‘Korina call me up, I was just with Tita Cory and Carlo.’ So when we talked, sabi niya, ‘Bru, pumunta ka na doon, hinihintay ka na, mag-pitch ka na sa kanila.’ And because of that tip, I made that appointment, and I was so overwhelmed with that one meeting with Carlo and Cory and Seb, sabi nila, ‘dito ka na sa amin, welcome back home Korina.’ Ganon lang, ganon lang kabilis.”
She also highlighted how her training from ABS-CBN helped her with her current role as a producer.
“My training in ABS-CBN is priceless, because in ABS-CBN, bihira rin lang ‘yun on-cam ka pero ikaw din ang nag-iilaw, ikaw din ang umuupo sa sarili mong editing, ikaw rin nagpipintura ng sarili mong set, ako ‘yun. Ako din ang EP, ako din ang ano. Nakakaloka, all-around.”
As for Sanchez, she has her news magazine and lifestyle show ‘Rated Korina,’ formerly co-produced with Brightlight Productions, under a collaboration between her and ABS-CBN starting July 5. She also has ‘Korina Interviews’ through the Net25 online platform.
Aside from her programs, she also has ‘Tiktalks’ with Pat-P Daza, G3 San Diego, Kakai Bautista, and Alex Calleja every Sunday on TV5.
