On July 26, actor Khalil Ramos expressed interest in taking risks as an artist before settling down.
At the media conference for his Cinemalaya 2023 film ‘As If It’s True,’ which LionhearTV covered, Ramos revealed his goals with his acting career now that he’s in his late ’20s.
“I’m in my late 20s now, and how I see it is that before I settle down, these are my– I guess, final years to take the risks that I could afford to take before my responsibilities grow even more. So, yeah, that’s where my head is at now.
“As an actor, siyempre, as an artist– ang dami kong gusto, ang dami kong gustong gawin, lahat. And then our platforms are also evolving di ba?”
He also highlighted that Filipino actors like Dolly De Leon and Ruby Ruiz have recently ventured into international projects.
“Filipino talent is going global. So, siyempre as an actor– that’s a Filipino actor’s dream now. Si Miss Dolly De Leon, si Miss Ruby Ruiz, going global and you know, and very successful on the /global/ stage. So that’s one thing that I guess– /a lot of/ Filipino actors are looking at now, and hopefully, I could be part of a project like that soon.”
He then talked about his current mindset of grabbing opportunities as an actor.
“My goal right now is that–that, susulitin ko na ‘tong, /I guess, late ’20s ko in taking [the] risks as an artist. Of course, I’ll grab that opportunity. I’ll always be an actor– I’ll always be an artist. What I do bilang isang tao, hindi naman mawawala ‘yung trabaho ko. So that’s my current headspace.”
‘As If It’s True’ stars Khalil Ramos and Ashley Ortega. Directed by the young filmmaker John Rogers, the full-length movie is part of the 19th edition of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, which opens at the Philippine International Convention Center from August 4 to 13, 2023.
