Kathryn Bernardo discusses her thoughts on imperfections and making mistakes

On August 23, Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo discussed her thoughts on imperfections and making mistakes.

At the media conference for ‘A Very Good Girl,’ which LionhearTV covered, Bernardo acknowledged her influence as a role model, noting that she still has imperfections.

“Growing up, hanggang ngayon, aware ako na maraming nakatingin sayo. You have to be good, you have to do this and that, kasi especially, may mga bata, gagayahin kung ano ‘yung makita sayo.

“But then, always na may presscon and they get to ask me this, I always answer na hindi porket artista ano ha, perfect na. Hindi porket na sinabing role model, wala kaming imperfections and we can’t commit mistakes and we can’t learn from our mistakes.”

She also emphasized that it is okay for personalities to show a bit of their vulnerability.

“So that’s what I keep telling them na yes, okay pwedeng may i-idolize ka. Parang ako, may iniidolo ako and all, but then bakit ko siya iniidolo, it’s because I see my self in her. Maybe because nakikita ko na tao din siya. Na nasaktan siya, nagkakamali siya, napapagod siya, nagagalit siya, and that’s okay.”

She then remarked that she feels no pressure from her fans.

“So siguro wala masyadong pressure sa akin kasi even sa fans ko, I always tell them na wag ninyo ako masyadong i-idol dahil perfect ako dahil hindi talaga promise.”

Bernardo also highlighted how different her character is from her personal life, citing how her circle of friends and family allow her to enjoy life.

“So ‘yung sa role na ‘to ni Filo, siguro ‘yung sa rebelious, ‘yung very cold character, bago siya sa akin, but in a way siguro, ‘yan ‘yung reason kung bakit ako may small circle of friends and my family, because at the end of the day kasi pinapa-enjoy nila sa akin ‘yung life in general.

“Yes I work hard but I need to enjoy life too. So pinapapayagan nila ako umalis, pinapayagan nila ako magtrabaho-trabaho, but ito ‘yung gagawin ko after para may mabigay pa ako at hindi ako maubos.”

She then noted that she’s at a stage of her life wherein she knows what it means to be a ‘good.’

“So ‘yun ‘yung naging routine ko parati para ayaw ko ng nape-pressure ako to be good just because I have to be good. So I want to be good kasi ito ‘yung pagkatao ko and being good doesn’t mean hindi na ako magsasalita, na I’m just following ‘yung sinasabi ng tao sa akin. So kung tanggap ka ng tao bilang ganon, kung hindi, okay lang ayaw kitang pilitin kasi ako ito. Nandoon ako siguro sa stage ng buhay ko na ganon.”

As for ‘A Very Good Girl,’ the Star Cinema movie stars Kathryn Bernardo and Dolly De Leon as a mother-daughter duo.

The film also features Kaori Oinuma, Chie Filomeno, Gillian Vicencio, and Jake Ejercito.

Under the screenplay of Marrione Dominique Mancol, Jumbo Albano, and Daniel Saniana and the direction of Petersen Vargas, ‘A Very Good Girl’ opens in cinemas on September 27.
