Showbiz columnist Jobert Sucaldito has candidly revealed that his friendship with Concert King Martin Nievera and their godfather relationship has been strained due to a past incident involving Asia’s Phoenix, Morissette Amon.
Jobert made this frank revelation during an appearance on the vlog of veteran actress Snooky Serna.
In response to a netizen’s question about which artist or celebrity he had encountered and completely erased from his memory, Jobert did not hold back and identified Morissette as the individual in question.
He expressed his displeasure with Morissette’s actions during an incident where she walked out of a concert. Jobert had invited her to perform on a show featuring one of his talents. Although Morissette initially attended, she walked out later, claiming that her boyfriend, Dave Lamar, was waiting for her outside, and they needed to attend the birthday party of fellow Kapamilya singer Moira Dela Torre.
“You have to learn to be professional,” Jobert said. “Hinding-hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yan because it ruined my relationship with Martin Nievera.”
Jobert described Martin as his friend and godfather, and the latter is renowned as the “Concert King” of the Philippines.
According to Jobert, Martin commented on and defended Morissette, suggesting that Jobert should understand the singer because she was going through a period of depression. However, Jobert’s point was that Martin, as a senior artist, should have taken the opportunity to advise Morissette to be more professional.
“Ako producer eh. Siyempre ayokong isipin ng mga tao na niloko ko sila. Ngayon, gusto ko lang siyang makita sa stage, kahit hindi na siya kumanta. Ang ginawa niya, she ran away. Mabuti na lang nahuli siya ng camera. Nahuli siya ng mga videos. Kasi si Martin kinampihan siya….”
“Sabi ko ‘Martin, doon ka nagkakamali. Sa edad mong ‘yan as a senior artist, dapat tinuturuan mo ang young artists to be professional.”
Jobert expressed disappointment that Morissette’s walkout was not due to depression, as he had initially thought. Instead, it was because she was having a quarrel with her boyfriend and wanted to avoid being late for Moira’s birthday party.
Jobert said that he has forgiven Moira, but he will never forget what Morissette did.
