The lawyer’s reaction came after regulatory body MTRCB, released its notice to suspend noontime show, It’s Showtime, for 12 airing days.
Lawyer Jesus Falcis, took to X to express his dissatisfaction and objection against the suspension order recently imposed by the Movie and Television Regulation and Classification (MTRCB), on It’s Showtime.
The said suspension is linked to the viral cake icing incident, which the agency deemed as lascivious and inappropriate for noontime viewing.
Falcis, who’s known for being vocal on social media, listed down why he thinks Lala Sotto, the current MTRCB chair, was being irrational and bias for implementing such sanction.
“Ang lala ni Lala Sotto.S uspending Showtime for the July 25 show because of Vice Ganda and Ion Perez’ kulitin by licking cake frosting with fingers is:1 . Irrationally puritanical; 2. Homophobic; 3. Biased and reeks of conflict of interest for Eat Bulaga, ” he posted.
According to Falcis, it is MTRCB’s job to err on the side of caution in interpreting which acts or deed should be deemed sexual or lascivious.
“If Lala Sotto sees sexual innuendo there, utak nya ang green-minded, ” he argued. He also accused Sotto as being homophobic, for seemingly singling out Vice Ganda and Ion Perez, when other similar acts by heterosexual pairs are also seen on other shows, have gone unnoticed.

“MANY OTHER COUPLES ON TV have smeared cake frosting on their fingers and licked it with or in front of their real life or on screen partners, ” Falcis said.
“Many others have pointed out before the lewd way Lala Sotto’s own father – Tito Sotto – kissed Helen Gamboa in Eat Bulaga. It wasn’t flagged as a violation and LALA SOTTO HERSELF DEFENDED IT.
That’s a clear bias – suspending Showtime, the competing show of Tito Sotto, ” he added, recalling several occasions when netizens and various personalities have called out Sotto for the perceived conflict of interest, over her decision to shrug aside similar complaints versus the show of his father, Tito Sotto. It can be recalled that the agency’s attention was called by various netizens over an intimate moment which many argued to be ‘lewd’, on the noontime show, EAT, between couple, Tito Sotto and Helen Gamboa.
Falcis then advised Sotto to take law as she apparently struggles to exercise her power as MTRCB chair, properly.
“Sobrang lala at garapalan etong suspension by Lala Sotto. Walang delicadeza and walang concept ng prior restraint and chilling effect.
Baka dapat mag law school sya para matuto naman sya how to exercise the power of the MTRCB responsibly, ” he posted as a closing statement.
Amid the suspension order, netizens call for the abolition of the regulation body, anew. It can be recalled that similar calls gained support and volume last month, due to Sotto’s decision to summon the producers of the Kapamilya noontime show over the same icing-eating incident.
