Internationally-acclaimed actress Jaclyn Jose has made a significant return to ABS-CBN after a ten-year hiatus, taking on a pivotal role in the series ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.’
This move comes after several years of working with GMA Network, where she was involved in various teleseryes alongside some of the Kapuso network’s top talents.
Jaclyn’s decision to temporarily leave GMA Network and join the Kapamilya Network has sparked interest and curiosity among fans and industry insiders alike.
In a recent interview with ‘TV Patrol,’ she shed light on her reasons behind this career move.
The celebrated actress is set to play a crucial character in the second season of ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,’ a top-rating series led by Coco Martin, who also takes on the directorial duties. Jaclyn will portray the role of Corrections Chief Supt. Dolores Espinas, a powerful figure within a correctional facility. Her character’s connection to Tanggol (Coco) is expected to be a central plot point in the series.
Jaclyn reminisced about her early collaboration with Coco Martin, emphasizing the strong bond they share. They first worked together in the acclaimed film ‘Masahista,’ directed by Brillante Mendoza, where Coco earned the Young Critics Circle Best Actor award. Their professional partnership continued in the teleserye ‘Nagsimula Sa Puso’ and was followed by ‘Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo,’ both of which were successful ABS-CBN projects.
The seasoned actress disclosed that her last ABS-CBN teleserye before her move to GMA Network was ‘Kahit Puso’y Masugatan,’ which aired in 2013. Since transitioning to GMA Network, Jaclyn had not returned to the Kapamilya network until now.
“Nagkataon lang na nasa ibang istasyon tayo at that time kaya hindi tayo nakapasok sa Probinsyano,” she said.
Jaclyn expressed her strong desire to make a guest appearance in the long-running series ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,’ which garnered immense popularity during its seven-year run. She acknowledged the unique sentiment artists often feel, emphasizing that not being part of a show like ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ left a void in her career.
Coco Martin, in a separate statement, expressed his gratitude to Jaclyn for playing a pivotal role in his career. It was Jaclyn who introduced Coco to director Andoy Ranay, opening doors to his involvement in the ABS-CBN series ‘Ligaw Na Bulaklak.’ This opportunity played a crucial role in Coco’s journey to stardom, especially at a time when he contemplated leaving showbiz due to his perceived lack of career progress.
