A show of force from the Madlang Pipol.
Just one day after the MTRCB imposed a 12-day suspension on the Kapamilya noontime show, ‘It’s Showtime,’ online viewers rallied behind the program, resulting in the show achieving the highest concurrent views on YouTube and Facebook.
According to LionhearTV’s monitoring on Tuesday, September 5, ‘It’s Showtime’ amassed a combined live concurrent viewership of over 123 thousand, surpassing E.A.T.’s total combined live concurrent views by more than 50 thousand, as E.A.T. recorded just over 72 thousand. In contrast, TAPE Inc.’s ‘Eat Bulaga’ lagged significantly behind, with less than 2 thousand concurrent views.

In addition to these live concurrent views, ‘It’s Showtime’s’ hashtag for that day, #TayoAngShowtime, also became the top trending topic on Twitter Philippines, illustrating strong support from the madlang online pipol.

‘It’s Showtime’ has dominated conversations on various social media platforms ever since the MTRCB’s decision to suspend the show for 12 airing days.
The MTRCB’s ruling stemmed from alleged violations of the board’s rules and regulations during the July 25 episode of the Kapamilya noontime show, specifically concerning hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez’s behavior during the ‘Isip Bata’ segment.
The MTRCB stated, “Viewers have lodged multiple complaints before the MTRCB concerning the show’s 25 July 2023 episode wherein the program’s hosts allegedly acted in an indecent manner during one of its segments, ‘Isip Bata.'”
However, it’s important to note that the suspension is not yet final and executory, as the review board has also stated in the same ruling that the noontime show has 15 days to file an appeal.
“In accordance with the Presidential Decree (P.D.) No. 1986 (MTRCB Charter), the respondents may file one Motion for Reconsideration (MR) within fifteen (15) days after receipt of the decision,” its statement read.
“Should the Board’s Decision be adverse to the respondent’s MR, they may appeal to the Office of the President within fifteen (15) days from the receipt of the decision on the MR,” it added.
In response, ABS-CBN has announced its intention to file a motion for reconsideration, maintaining that ‘It’s Showtime’ did not violate any relevant laws. They also expressed their commitment to collaborating with the MTRCB to ensure that the show can continue to bring joy and entertainment to its noontime viewers.
“We will submit a Motion for Reconsideration as we humbly maintain that there was no violation of pertinent law.
“We are also committed to working with the MTRCB to ensure that It’s Showtime can continue to bring joy and entertainment to our noontime viewers.
