Former sexy star Ellen Adarna recently revealed details of her rebellious phase during her teenage years, shedding light on a time when she ran away from home.
In an open discussion through her Instagram account, Ellen responded to inquiries from netizens regarding her personal life, including whether she had ever experienced a regular commute.
With candor, Ellen confessed that she indeed ran away from home at the tender age of 13. However, her escapade was relatively brief.
She clarified, (translated) “After a day, I went back home. So my punishment was that I had to take a jeepney home, but our nanny came to pick me up. My siblings’ schools were along the way, so it wasn’t a far journey, but as a form of punishment, I had to take the jeepney for about three months.”
Furthermore, Ellen disclosed that her parents put her in the shoes of a household nanny as part of her discipline. She was relegated to sleep in the maids’ quarters and lend a hand with various domestic chores on weekends. Ellen quipped, “I even got kicked out!”
Ellen articulated that these disciplinary measures from her father instilled valuable lessons in her, primarily centered on the virtues of humility and responsibility.
She shared the circumstances that led her to run away, stating, (translated) “Actually, running away wasn’t part of the plan. I just escaped to go out at night, to party. I overdid it and snuck out of the window. They were so amazed at how I did it. They said I was like Spider-Man.”
Reflecting on her experience, Ellen elucidated, (translated) “I didn’t plan to run away that time. I just escaped because I was caught sneaking out, and I was scared to go home because I thought my dad might kill me. So, they called it running away because I didn’t return.”
She also recounted some of the “memorable punishments” her father subjected her to, such as kneeling on mung beans and the aforementioned jeepney punishment. Ellen candidly admitted that these experiences contributed to her becoming more understanding and compassionate towards the nannies who worked for her family.
Ellen also disclosed that due to her penchant for rebellion, her allowance was temporarily suspended during that period. Nevertheless, she regarded this challenge as a catalyst for finding alternative means to earn money and cultivate financial independence. Ellen viewed this phase as transformative and a valuable lesson in self-sufficiency.
