On August 30, artist Bugoy Cariño addressed the negative comments about Belle Mariano being part of their project.
At the media event for ‘Huling Sayaw,’ which LionhearTV covered, Cariño clarified that they didn’t use Mariano’s popularity when they made the film.
“Siguro kasi sabay ngayon na grabe ‘yung career niya ngayon. Siguro sabi ko nga po kay Direk na, ‘Direk di natin maiiwasan ‘yung ganyan talaga.’ Sabi ko, ‘Siguro lakasan mo ;ang ‘yung loob mo sa mga ganyan.
“At least this time, magagawa mo na ‘yung gusto mo na mapalabas ‘yung movie at ipakita sa mga tao na ‘yung gusto mong patunayan na di naman talaga ginamit ni Direk si Belle sa movie na ‘to. So sabi ko sa kaniya, ipalabas natin ‘yung movie, ipakita natin sa tayo na hindi natin ginamit si Belle sa movie na ‘to.”
Cariño cited that they made the film in 2019, four years ago, before Mariano worked on the series ‘He’s Into Her’ with her love team partner Donny Pangilinan.
Aside from that, the young artist also recounted working with Mariano in the Kapamilya kid-gag show, ‘Goin Bulilit,’ noting that he saw his co-star’s potential to succeed back then.
“Ah, opo. Actually dati pa po sa Goin’ Bulilit, na pinag-uusapan namin si Belle na parang sabi namin, ‘Pagdating na panahon, si Belle, sabi nga nila, baka siguro ‘yun na ‘yung love team ni Belle.’ Si Belle talagang mas umangat pa talaga. Sa Goin Bulilit, ganon na ‘yung expect namin kay Belle, kasi sobrang sipag ni Belle eh, noong mga time po na ‘yun. Tsaka po pursigido siya. Tsaka marami siyang talent, sumasayaw kumakanta. uma-acting. So lahat nasa kaniya na.”
He then urged DonBelle fans to see Mariano part in their film, reiterating that they filmed the movie four years ago.
“Matagal na po ‘to, sabi ko, parang four years ago, so siguro doon sa mga fans ng DonBelle, try ninyo lang po panoorin ‘yung movie. Try ninyo pong panoorin ‘yung movie para malaman nila talaga kung ano ‘yung character ni Belle diyan.”
As for ‘Huling Sayaw,’ the film stars Bugoy Cariño, Belle Mariano, Mark Herras, and Zeus Collins.
The cast also features Brenna Garcia, Ramon Christopher, Christian Vasquez, Emilio Garcia, Rob Sy, Mickey Ferriols, Marina Benipayo, Jeffrey Santos, Jao Mapa, Melvin Vidal, Amado Carlos Bolilia, Edian S. Baldevieso, Awra Briguela, and Andy Abellar.
Under the direction of Errol Ropero, ‘Huling Sayaw’ opens in cinemas on September 13.
