Kapuso host Buboy Villar couldn’t contain his joy as Television and Exponents (TAPE) Inc. successfully regained ownership of ‘Eat Bulaga’s’ YouTube channel.
In a Facebook post, Buboy shared the first live stream of ‘Eat Bulaga’ on YouTube using their official channel.
“FIRST LIVE SA YT CHANNEL THANK YOU LORD!” Buboy wrote.
On September 9, TAPE Inc. posted its first live stream using the YouTube channel of ‘Eat Bulaga.’ ‘Eat Bulaga’ had faced significant issues with online viewership, with viewers resorting to streaming on the Facebook pages of Paolo Contis and Isko Moreno due to the takedown of their previous YouTube channels.
The viewership of ‘Eat Bulaga’ significantly lagged behind that of other noontime shows like ‘It’s Showtime’ and ‘EAT’ which consistently garnered five-digit viewers compared to ‘Eat Bulaga’s’ highest, perhaps reaching 2,000 viewers.
However, the regaining of TAPE Inc.’s ownership of the ‘Eat Bulaga’ channel disappointed Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, the former hosts of the longest-running noontime show. They revealed their plan to take legal action to recover the YouTube channel.
“The owner of the YouTube channel is the owner of the email used to register it. It is not TAPE. The content of that YouTube account is composed of past episodes of ‘Eat Bulaga.’ The copyright of the show and its episodes belong to TVJ,” said Atty. Enrique Dela Cruz Jr., the legal counsel of TVJ, in a statement.
TVJ’s camp also suspected that TAPE Inc. had hacked the YouTube channel of Eat Bulaga to gain access to it. Meanwhile, the Facebook page of Eat Bulaga remained inactive as of the time of writing.
