Television personality Willie Revillame has hinted at his potential return to the small screen, this time on the government-owned channel PTV.
Through a post on the official Wowowin Facebook page, a show hosted by Revillame, a photo of the PTV channel headquarters in Quezon City was shared. Accompanying the image was the caption: “May nilulutong sorpresa si Wil!” (Wil has a brewing surprise!)
The post also included a fork and knife along with a plate emoji, hinting at the possibility of a new show airing during the noontime or evening slot.
As of now, no specific details have emerged regarding the source of funding for Willie’s potential show on PTV, given that PTV is operated using taxpayer money.
Several figures from the entertainment industry have advised Revillame not to rush back onto television, especially if he intends to compete with other established noontime shows.
Veteran columnist Lolit Solis offered her advice, suggesting that Revillame should consider returning only when the public truly calls for it.
It can be recalled that during the final episode of Wowowin on February 11, 2022, Revillame mentioned that he had a new contract from GMA Network for the past month, but he hadn’t signed it because he was given an opportunity to work with former senator Manny Villar on Villar’s new network.
Unfortunately, Revillame’s show on AllTV didn’t last long due to low ratings and a lack of advertisers. Wowowin on AllTV premiered on September 13, 2022. There were plans for it to transfer to a new studio at AMBS in Starmall, Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City in January 2023, which did not materialize. The show aired its final live broadcast on February 10, 2023.
There had been rumors for a while that Revillame was seeking a new home for his show, and it seems this might become a reality on a government-owned TV station.
