In a recent interview with ABS-CBN News, comedy superstar Vice Ganda has reaffirmed that he is still the manager of Awra Briguela.
Speculation arose last June when Briguela was involved in a highly publicized altercation in Poblacion, Makati. Reports circulated that Vice Ganda had decided to sever ties with Briguela in the wake of the incident.
Addressing these rumors, Vice Ganda expressed his surprise: “Alam mo nagtataka ako kung saan nila nakukuha. One, no one asked me, ikaw lang ang nagtanong sa ‘kin. I was not interviewed by anyone so nagtataka ako kung saan nila nakukuha ‘yung chikang iniwan ko si Awra. Na-interview ba nila si Awra?”
He went on to highlight the challenges of interviewing Awra, who is not permitted to engage in interviews. According to Vice Ganda, such rumors are merely attempts to gain attention and use his and Awra’s names for clout.
When questioned about how he handled Briguela’s recent arrest, Vice Ganda revealed, “Pinagpahinga ko muna siya ng ilang araw… para mahimasmasan. Tapos ako din papahupain ko kasi siyempre galit din ako, mainit din ang ulo ko.”
Furthermore, Vice Ganda confirmed that he had a conversation with Awra’s father, emphasizing that their discussions were grounded in concern, love, and support.
He clarified the current state of their professional relationship, stating, “‘Yung mga issues na hindi ko na muna ita-tackle, bahala na ‘yan sa susunod. Ang gusto kong klaruhin ay hindi kami naghihiwalay ni Awra. Hindi ko siya iiwanan lalung-lalo na sa posisyon ng buhay niya, she needs guidance and I will be there for her.”
Vice Ganda reported that Awra is currently doing well, adding, “She’s okay. She’s trying to be better everyday.”
He concluded with a message of reflection and growth, urging everyone to learn from this experience and become better individuals.
Awra Briguela continues to host ‘Emojination’ on TV5 alongside Maja Salvador and is set to appear in the ‘Comedy Island Philippines’ series, premiering on August 31 on the streaming platform Prime Video.
