Talent manager and showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz has recently weighed in on the remarks made by veteran broadcaster Noli de Castro about the wedding of Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza, which took place on July 28.
During the celebration, Noli de Castro pointed out that while the couple was joyfully tying the knot, many people were suffering from the effects of Typhoon Egay.
“Kayo naman habang kinakasal, kawawa naman ang binagyo,” the broadcaster said.
In one of his online programs, Ogie Diaz and his co-hosts discussed the criticisms that De Castro received from netizens, particularly from Maine’s fans. Diaz did not shy away from questioning De Castro’s contributions to the victims of Typhoon Egay.
“Kaya ang next question ko: Ano po ang naitulong ni Ka Noli sa mga binagyo? Ano po ang naitulong ni Ka Noli bukod sa pagbabalita at pagpapaalala sa mga kababayan natin na mag-ingat? Ano po?,” Ogie inquired.
The showbiz reporter urged Noli de Castro to be more cautious with his statements, considering his reputation and legacy in the industry.
“Ay naku, Ka Noli, mas maganda na mag-iwan tayo ng magagandang legacia habang tayo ay nagkakaedad at darating ang panahon na tayo ay magpapaalam sa trabahong minahal natin pero nang may dignidad,” Ogie remarked.
It is worth noting that Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza took a unique approach to their wedding celebration. Instead of receiving traditional gifts, the couple requested their guests to contribute to a donation drive aimed at helping the families affected by the devastation brought about by Typhoon Egay.
“In lieu of presents, we would appreciate extending your help fund a donation drive that we are planning to do after our wedding. The proceeds will be distributed to a number of indigenous groups in Luzon. We will personally share the gift you are blessing us to bless other people who need it more,” the couple announced.
