While online streaming platforms and video-on-demand services have captured viewers’ attention, the latest ratings data indicate that traditional television is far from obsolete.
The most recent ratings report from the Nielsen NUTAM People survey reveals a rising trend in ratings for both primetime and afternoon shows, suggesting a renewed interest in television programming.
On Monday, August 7, the Kapamilya action-drama teleserye ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ achieved a remarkable rating of 14.9 percent, its highest since its premiere in February. This rating also represents the highest for an entertainment primetime series since February 10, when ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ registered a rating of 15.0 percent.
Similarly, ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’s’ rival, ‘Voltes V: Legacy,’ also displayed impressive TV ratings. On Friday, August 4, VVL claimed the top spot on the rating chart with a score of 14.6 percent.
The Kapuso crime-thriller series ‘Royal Blood’ also demonstrated remarkable ratings, achieving its highest rating to date on August 10 with 12.1 percent.
Interestingly, its competitor, ‘The Iron Heart,’ also set a new all-time high rating on Monday, August 7, with a score of 8.6 percent, the highest since July 26, when it achieved a rating of 8.1 percent.
Late-night teleseryes ‘Dirty Linen’ and ‘Unbreak My Heart’ also posted impressively high TV ratings. On Tuesday, August 8, the Kapamilya crime-thriller teleseryes reached their highest ratings to date, with ‘Dirty Linen’ reaching 6.2 percent. This marks the first time in the series’ 8-month run that it has surpassed the 6 percent rating mark. ‘Unbreak My Heart’ also achieved a notable rating of 7.0 percent on the same day, its highest since it first achieved this rating on August 1.
The afternoon block has also registered strong TV ratings. GMA Network’s afternoon prime lineup has been a formidable contender, even surpassing some of its Kapuso primetime counterparts. ‘Abot Kamay Na Pangarap’ consistently ranks 4th with an average rating of 12 to 13 percent, occasionally outranking the Kapuso primetime series ‘Royal Blood.’ ‘Magandang Dilag’ is also highly popular, with ratings ranging from 10 to 12 percent and occasionally surpassing ‘Royal Blood’ in the ratings chart.
ABS-CBN’s relaunch of its Kapamilya Gold lineup through its collaboration with TV5 is gradually gaining traction, as ‘Pira-pirasong Paraiso’ and ‘Nagbabagang Damdamin’ start to enter the top 30 leaderboard with an average rating of 1.6 to 1.9 percent.
