On August 1, Kapuso actor Mikoy Morales revealed behind-the-scene details about his role in the ‘Maging Sino Ka Man’ remake.
At a media conference for his two Cinemalaya 2023 entries, ‘Rookie’ and ‘Tether,’ which LionhearTV covered, Morales disclosed the cast of the remake of the 1991 romantic-comedy film and the respective characters they would be taking on.
“I wouldn’t say kung gaano siya kalaki, pero ‘yung sa remake kasi na ‘to, kasi dati di ba ang cast nito ay si Robin Padilla, Dennis Padilla, tapos si Sharon (Cuneta). Tapos ang kontrabida si Edu (Manzano).
“So si Robin Padilla siya na si David Licauco ngayon, ‘yung Sharon Cuneta, si Barbie, si Edu Manzano, ‘yung kontrabida, si Juancho (Trivino). Tapos ako ‘yung Dennis Padilla.”
He talked about getting the best friend role, formerly donned by Dennis Padilla, in the upcoming remake.
“Parang ‘yun na nga mismo ‘yung mangyayari.
“‘Yun ‘yung masaya sa pagiging best friend lagi ng bida, ang dami laging taping.”
He also addressed how he often gets the best-friend role in his recent projects.
“Hindi lagi kong niloloko kay Buboy (Villar) ‘yun na lahat ng kumukuha sa akin na best friend na roles, laging kong sinasabi na ‘Buboy hindi ka kasi pwede, ako tuloy kinukuha.’ Busy ka na masyado.
“So I think it’s a fun role, it’s always a fun role to be na maging ganon na best friend or kung ano man tawag doon. Pero it’s always a challenge din kung paano siya iibahin everytime.”
He then highlighted the cast’s enthusiasm for ‘Maging Sino Ka Man.’
“So ngayon, buti na lang very fresh, hindi ko pa nakaka-work ever ‘yung team na ‘to. And it’s refreshing na parang nakakahawa din ‘yung enthusiasm nila na parang siguro I think it’s become like a norm na sa akin na gawin ‘tong roles na ‘to. But with Direk Enzo, I get motivated to make it more different than ano ‘yung mga nakasanayan ko na.”
As for his upcoming Cinemaya 2023, ‘Rookie’ stars Pat Tingjuy, Aya Fernandez, and Agot Isidro.
As for ‘Tether’, Morales stars with Jorrybell Agoto, Breech Mae Valencia, Olivia Banela, and Albert Briones.
