The award-winning and seasoned Kapuso comedian was among the OPM Chief’s guest celebrities, during his birthday celebration on It’s Showtime.
It was definitely a historic moment, when Kapuso stars, Manilyn Reynes and Michael V a.ka. Bitoy, took part in the grand celebration for Ogie Alcasid’s 56th birthday, last August 19, on It’s Showtime. Not only it marked the three ’90s icons reunited for the first time, in television, it was also the first time that the Pepito Manaloto stars, guested on the Kapamilya noontime show. Thanks to ABS-CBN’s block time deal with GMA Network’s GTV, of course, Kapuso stars are now welcome to appear on the top rating Kapamilya program.
Michael V and Alcasid notably worked in various projects on GMA Network, particularly via the longest-running gag show in the country, Bubble Gang.
During his guesting on It’s Showtime, Bitoy was asked by Vice Ganda about his fondest memory with his now long-time friend. It was an opportunity for him to tell an amusing “first meeting” story, with Alcasid.
“Alam ko dito rin sa ABS-CBN ‘yun eh. Noong time na sumali ako sa Eat Bulaga, tapos judge siya. Sumali ako sa contest dito sa ABS-CBN, siya yung judge, tapos pinatalo niya ako...” he told Vice Ganda and the rest of It’s Showtime hosts.
Bitoy seemingly recalled how he could not wrap his head around the fact that he lost a ‘rap contest’, because of Ogie Alcasid who is not a rap singer.
“Rap contest ‘yun ha. Hindi siya rapper, pero siya ang nagtapatalo sa akin,” added Bitoy, who then explained that the loss was actually a blessing in disguise, as it motivated him to work harder.
“Pero dahil doon, nagsumikap ako at naging magkatrabaho kami,” he clarified.
Vhong Navarro jokingly asked Bitoy, what would his verdict be, should he trade places with his now good friend. “…ikaw ang judge, sumali siya sa contest, mananalo ba siya?”.
“Kung alam ko na magiging magkaibigan kami in the future, ipapatalo ko rin siya,” answered Bitoy, who then hugged Alcasid.
As a treat to their fans, Bitoy and Ogie briefly resurrected their beloved ‘Bubble Gang’ characters, Yaya and Angelina. Alcasid left the show for TV5, in 2013.
