The recent parody song “Oh Wow” by comedy genius and Bubble Gang star Michael V. has been making waves online.
The song, a parody of the band Dilaw’s “Uhaw,” takes a humorous approach to content and content creators. However, Michael V., also known as Bitoy, clarified that the song is not meant to be a dig at anyone, but rather a reminder.
“I’d like to say it’s a reminder. Hindi lang sa kanila (content creators), pati sa sarili ko. Sana maka-inspire tayo ng generation na ‘hindi pa puwede, puwede pang pagandahin,'” said Bitoy in an interview with Nelson Canlas for “Chika Minute” on 24 Oras.
Bitoy also pointed out that many people seemed to relate to his new parody, and he expressed concern about the growing toxicity in the world of content creators.
“Yung content creators, dapat alam ‘yung ibig sabihin ng salitang content,” he added.
While no names were mentioned in the parody, social media personality Rendon Labador expressed his disappointment with the viral music video on July 31. He wrote, “Michael V can’t move on. You’re too emotional, and that will be your downfall.”
Despite the critique, the parody video quickly gained popularity, amassing 4.1 million views on TikTok and landing on the YouTube trending list within a day. Additionally, it garnered 2 million views on Facebook.
Numerous netizens praised the comedy genius for his latest work, commending his talent and the timely message of the parody. Even members of the band Dilaw, the original performers of “Uhaw,” expressed their delight with Bitoy’s creation.
As “Oh Wow” continues to captivate audiences, it serves as a reminder for both content creators and viewers to approach content creation with creativity, humor, and mindfulness, embodying the true essence of the word “content.” Michael V.’s wit and artistic prowess shine through once again, earning praise from fans and fellow celebrities alike.
