Netizens have been abuzz with speculation regarding the potential transfer of the popular noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga’ from TAPE, Inc. to ALLTV.
This speculation arose after Bullet Jalosjos, an executive at TAPE, shared an Instagram post featuring himself alongside Senator Mark Villar.
However, TAPE, Inc. has vehemently refuted these rumors, asserting that there is no truth to the suggestion that ‘Eat Bulaga’ is making a network switch to ALLTV.
Maggie Abraham-Garduque, the legal representative for TAPE, clarified that the meeting between Bullet and Senator Villar was purely a friendly exchange of birthday greetings. She also highlighted that Camella Homes, a real estate company owned by the Villar family, serves as a prominent sponsor for one of ‘Eat Bulaga’s’ segments.
Abraham-Garduque further emphasized that there is no compelling reason for ‘Eat Bulaga’ to change networks, as the show maintains an existing blocktime agreement with GMA Network, its current network home.
“This is absolutely false news. Camella of the Villars is a major sponsor of Eat Bulaga’s segment ‘May Pa-Key Kami Sayo’ wherein winners can win a house and lot,” asserted Abraham-Garduque.
She continued, “If you can see the original post, Bullet merely greeted Mark Villar on his bday. There is no basis for the speculation that said bday greeting will be tantamount to intention to transfer to All TV.”
“Besides the article also said that Eat Bulaga has an existing blocktime agreement with GMA so there is no need and reason to transfer to another network,” she concluded.
Despite the departure of the show’s original hosts, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, ‘Eat Bulaga’ continues to be a part of the Kapuso network.
In a related development, a legal case involving copyright infringement and unfair competition has been filed against TAPE, Inc. This case pertains to the use of the name ‘Eat Bulaga,’ which the TVJ group also seeks to employ for their noontime show on TV5.
