MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto recently came to the defense of her parents, Tito Sotto and Helen Gamboa, amidst a callout and criticisms they received.
The issue stemmed from a scene on the July 29 episode of E.A.T, where Tito passionately expressed affection towards his wife, Helen, whom he has been married to for 52 years.
In a report by Bandera published today, Lala was asked by her publicist, Pilar Mateo, about her reaction to the criticisms directed at her parents. Lala firmly stated that her parents have been showing their affection for each other on Eat Bulaga for an impressive 44 years, without any issues arising before.
“Hello, Tita (Pilar), they’ve been doing that on Eat Bulaga for 44 years, and there has never been an issue,” Lala said.
However, certain netizens compared Tito’s actions to the public displays of affection between Vice Ganda and Ion Perez. This led some of them to call for an investigation and even suggested that Lala’s position as MTRCB head might present a conflict of interest.
Additionally, there were speculations from It’s Showtime fans that the possible suspension of the Kapamilya show could benefit Tito’s noontime program, E.A.T.
Despite the callout and criticisms, Lala remains steadfast in her support for her parents. As of now, there has been no official statement from the MTRCB regarding the request from It’s Showtime fans. The situation continues to be a topic of discussion among netizens and fans of both shows.
