On July 27, award-winning director Joel Lamangan addressed claims of ‘historical revisionism’ with his upcoming movie, ‘Apo Hapon.’
At the story conference for ‘Apo Hapon,’ which LionhearTV covered, Lamangan refuted the claims of ‘historical revisionism’ by detailing his plans to create projects that show different stories during the Second World War.
“Gagawa ako ng comfort women, gagawa din ako ng comfort gay, gagawa ako ng lahat ng katotohanan tungkol sa World War 2 or after ng World War 2. Hindi lamang isang phase ang World War 2 story. Maraming istorya ang World War 2. Anong revisionism doon.”
Lamangan acknowledged the atrocities Filipinos experienced during the Japanese Occupation from 1941 to 1945.
He then clarified that his upcoming film is a fictional story based on historical facts.
As for his upcoming film, ‘Apo Hapon’ stars JC De Vera, Sakura Akiyoshi, Fumiya Sankai, Lianne Valentin, Nella Dizon, Prince Clemente, Rico Barrera, Bautista, Jim Pebanco, and Marcus Madrigal.
The GK Productions film features a story of a Japanese soldier who fell in love with a Filipina and became a member of the local community in the Philippines amid the Second World War and the Japanese Occupation.
Directed by the award-winning director Lamangan and the screenplay by Eric Ramos, ‘Apo Hapon’ opens in cinemas soon.
