On July 31, Kapuso child star Franchesco Maafi recounted his showbiz journey and how he got his lead role in the upcoming RCGomez Entertainment Productions film ‘The Special Gift.’Â
At the media conference for ‘The Special Gift,’ which LionhearTV covered, Maafi narrated how he started his career as a model and got his teleserye.
“Actually since I was five years old po, nag start po ako ng commercial po muna, commercial– nag-start po ako, mga two years po ako nag-commercial tapos nag step out na po ako, nag-teleserye na po ako.”
He then noted how he got cast for ‘The Special Gift’ thanks to his stints in the Kapuso teleseryes such as ‘Beautiful Justice,’ ‘Nakarehas na Puso,’ and ‘Hearts on Ice.’Â
“And then ayun po, mga 2020 po din, na nagteteleserye din po ako, and ngayon pong 2023, ito po ‘yung latest show ko po, itong ‘The Special Gift.'”
Maafi noted that he wanted to become an artist. As for his lead role, the young Kapuso actor reacted to his big break with, “Masaya po, masaya po sa pakiramdam.”
Former child star BJ ‘Tolits’ Forbes praised Maafi’s ability to give justice to his role.
“For me, I’m really proud of Choco, dahil hindi lahat nabibigyan ng pagkakataon to portray a very important role. And tingin ko, sa pagkakakilala ko kay Direk Lawrence, ay hindi naman siya basta magde-desisyon kung hindi niya masu-sure na kayang gampanan at kayang bigyan ng hustisya ‘yung role.”
He then shared advice with Maafi regarding his career in the entertainment industry.
“So kay Choco, it’s a very big step para sa kanya, para sa career niya, itong ‘The Special Gift’ so you just have to– ‘yung advice naman po, if I have to be permitted as a former child actor din, just listen sa lahat ng mga nasa paligid mo, be observant, be kumbaga a good listener dahil doon tayo gagaling.”
As for their upcoming film, the RCGomez Entertainment film stars Franchesco Maafi, Soliman Cruz, Migui Moreno, Mike Lloren, Malou Canzana, Romina Cauilan, Ella Sheen, Angelo Gomez, and BJ ‘Tolits’ Forbes.Â
Produced by Roy Gomez and directed by Lawrence Roxas, ‘The Special Gift’ opens in cinemas soon.
