TAPE, Inc., the production company behind ‘Eat Bulaga,’ allegedly committed a violation when they prevented Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and other Dabarkads from going live on air in May.
In an interview with MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto conducted by Ogie Diaz streamed on August 11, Lala revealed that their monitoring team quickly noticed the violation in the popular noontime show.
“Immediately, the monitoring inspection unit observed that violation,” Lala stated.
She explained that according to MTRCB’s understanding, ‘Eat Bulaga’ was supposed to air live, but they opted to show a replay instead.
“Alam namin it was supposed to be a live show dito sa MTRCB. Ang permit to exhibit nila ay live, pero they chose to replay,” added Lala, who is the daughter of Tito Sotto.
On May 31, it can be recalled that TAPE aired a replay of ‘Eat Bulaga’ even though Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and the rest of the Dabarkads were present in the studio.
During that broadcast, TVJ announced their decision to part ways with the production company after more than four decades of collaboration.
The alleged violation has led to an investigation by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to ensure compliance with broadcasting regulations.
