After a remarkable debut week in terms of ratings, “Magandang Dilag” has continued its triumph, achieving double-digit ratings at the beginning of its second week.
On August 3rd, the drama series surpassed the long-time leader, “Abot Kamay Na Pangarap (AKNP),” to become the new leader in daytime programming.
This marks the first lead role in a drama series for actress Herlene Budol, who previously gained popularity for her comedic talents and supporting roles. However, during the show’s media conference on June 17, director Don Michael Perez expressed his admiration for Herlene’s transformation into a dramatic actress.
“Ang pagkakakilala ko sa kanya, comedian…and ‘di dapat ‘to comedy. This is her launching vehicle as a dramatic actress. Ako, sa totoo lang, I had a very little expectation kasi nga…komedyante s’ya. Nagulat ako kasi kayang-kaya pala n’ya. In fact, for a relative newcomer for drama, I’m very impressed with her acting skills,” praised the director.
Upon hearing the director’s praise, Herlene couldn’t help but be overcome with emotion, expressing her gratitude for the guidance and support from the team.
“Nabigla din ako kasi kung hindi rin po dahil sa kanila, hindi ko rin po magagawa [‘yung role ko] kasi tinulungan po nila ‘ko lahat. Gi-nuide po nila ‘ko. Thank you po,” said Herlene while holding back tears.
The latest preliminary overnight rating data from the Nielsen NUTAM People survey revealed that “Magandang Dilag” achieved an outstanding rating of 13.2 percent during its Thursday, August 3rd episode, setting a new all-time high after its previous peak of 11.7 percent on July 28.
With this impressive ascent in ratings, “Magandang Dilag” has overtaken its former leader, AKNP, which secured a rating of 13.0 percent.
The show’s outstanding performance in the daytime rankings has also elevated it on the overall rating chart. Previously holding the number 5 or number 6 spot, “Magandang Dilag” now shares the number 2 position with “Voltes V: Legacy,” both achieving a remarkable 13.2 percent. Sitting above them are “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” and “24 Oras,” both scoring a rating of 14.0 percent.
GMA Drama promptly celebrated the achievement on Twitter, expressing their gratitude to the loyal Kapuso viewers for their unwavering support.
“Salamat sa pagsama sa amin tuwing hapon, mga Kapuso! Number 1 din kayo sa puso namin! Patuloy lang manood ng #AbotKamayNaPangarap, #MagandangDilag, at #TheSeedOfLove simula 2:30 PM!”
