Singer Daryl Ong shared a positive perspective on an incident where he was mistaken for the renowned writer and director Darryl Yap.
In a recent Facebook post, Ong recounted how he found himself in a delightful case of mistaken identity during a restaurant visit on August 15 at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig.
Initially unbeknownst to him, the waiter attending to their table assumed that Ong was the viral director, Darryl Yap, known for his thought-provoking films. The restaurant staff’s special attention and service caught Ong’s notice, leading to an amusing episode.
In his humorous narrative, Ong shared that the waiter even addressed him as “Direk” (Director), which eventually gave away the mistaken identity. Ong kindly corrected the food server, saying, “[Y]ou’ve got the wrong number, I’m a singer, not a director [Face with tears of joy emoji].”
Despite the correction, Ong expressed his gratitude to Darryl Yap for inadvertently being the reason behind the VIP treatment they received at the restaurant. He playfully thanked both Yap and their respective mothers for sharing the same name, adding a touch of light-heartedness to the situation.
As of now, Ong’s Facebook post has garnered over 5.6K reactions from netizens, with the majority expressing their amusement through laughing emojis.
