On August 2, netizens resurrected the previous issues of the Dabarkads that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board seemed to overlook over the years, following their claims that they sent multiple warnings to ‘It’s Showtime.’
Some netizens brought up issues of racism from the segment ‘Sugod Bahay.’

Others also pointed to the usage of blackface in the past episodes of the noontime show.
They also pointed to a racist remark from Joey De Leon towards a Filipino-Chinese woman, hinting at COVID-19.
Just because may Chinese blood si Nikki, inassociate agad sa COVID? Ugh. Why didn’t MTRCB call this out? pic.twitter.com/1TzQpz42Us

MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto claimed they have sent multiple warnings about the language used in ‘It’s Showtime.’
“Kung alam n’yo lang, ilang notices na po ang aming ipinadala sa kanila (It’s Showtime), nakailang warning na rin sila dahil sa mga violations nila sa lengguwahe na paulit-ulit po ‘yun.”
Her explanation came after netizens’ feedback following MTRCB’s decision to summon Vice Ganda and Ion Perez during a cake-eating bit on ‘It’s Showtime.’
Sotto also clarified they summoned the hosts because of the observations of MTRCB’s monitoring inspection unit, citing alleged violations related to the presence of children during the segment.
She also maintained that the MTRCB adheres to a fair and thorough assessment of complaints before taking any action.
