Veteran entertainment columnist and TV-radio host Cristy Fermin has shed light on why she consistently chooses not to engage with Jay Sonza, a fellow broadcaster known for his frequent criticisms and negative comments about her.
In an unexpected twist, Fermin revealed a particular incident involving Sonza and corn that has significantly influenced her decision to refrain from responding to his provocations.
Fermin shared this unique insight during an episode of ‘Showbiz Now Na,’ a YouTube channel that she hosts. Reflecting on her past interactions with Jay Sonza, especially during their time working together on ABS-CBN’s ‘Mel & Jay’ and ‘Cristy Ferminute’ programs, Fermin recounted an incident that has stuck with her over the years.
What struck Fermin about this moment was not the act of eating corn itself but Sonza’s demeanor while doing so. She vividly remembered his mechanical and distant manner of eating the corn, as if his mind were elsewhere.
In her candid conversation, Fermin also addressed Sonza’s derogatory remarks, such as labeling her “Asymptopangit.” She found it rather peculiar that someone would wake up one day and believe they were the most handsome person in the world, especially when such comments were not aimed at her personally.
Fermin concluded her reflection by delivering a pertinent reminder about the ever-changing nature of life. Using Jay Sonza’s current situation as an example, she emphasized the importance of humility and acknowledged that circumstances can shift dramatically over time.
These remarks from Cristy Fermin come in light of Jay Sonza’s recent arrest and detention on charges of estafa (fraud) and syndicated illegal recruitment. Several prominent figures from the entertainment industry, including talent manager Ogie Diaz and columnist Lolit Solis, have expressed their sympathy for Sonza’s situation despite his previous criticisms of them. They hope that Sonza can find the necessary help and support to navigate his current predicament.
