On July 9, actress Bea Alonzo expressed hope for a second season of the Kapuso reality talent competition ‘Battle of the Judges.’
At the media event for ‘Battle of the Judges,’ Alonzo highlighted how much she enjoyed her first gig as a judge on a reality talent competition.
“Sa totoo lang, walang eme, nag-eenjoy talaga ako sa show na ‘to. Ngayon pa lang nag-ho-hope na ako for season 2.”
She then remarked how she learned to fight like her mother when advocating for the contestants under her roster.
“Natutunan kong maging palaban. I realized I am my mother’s daughter. Hindi, palaban kasi ‘yung nanay ko. Noong una, tama si Tito Boy eh, very nice pa, kasi naman paano naman ako makikipag-bardagulan sa isang Annette Gozon, Boy Abunda, at Jose Manalo.
“Parang feeling ko wala akong laban, but after a while, feeling ko kasi para akong nanay ng mga contestants ko. Parang you’ll really fight for these contestants, so nawawala ‘yung mga inhibitions mo, you just want them to win.”
Aside from feeling for her talents, Alonzo also considered her job as a judge and mentor as a way of giving back to the showbiz industry.
“Yes, siyempre after being here nga a while, itong industriyang ito, itong mga experiences ko and knowledge ko about the business, ishini-share ko na doon sa mga contestants, and for me it’s my way of giving back because this industry has been very good to me, to my career. And feeling ko, this is the perfect opportunity na ituro naman sa kanila ‘yung mga natutunan ko before.”
She then detailed the lesson or advice she wanted to share with the contestants.
“Siyempre, unang-una doon, hardwork, kasi hindi ako naniniwala sa luck, naniniwala ako sa hardwork. And of course, isa ‘yun sa mga shini-share ko sa kanila. What else, siyempre ‘yung pagiging prepared all the time.
“And I believe itong contest na ‘to, isn’t just about talents or singing, it’s about story telling, so dapat bawat number, or bawat talent na ipapakita nila, alam ng audience kung saan nanggagaling, dapat napaparamdam nila sa audience kung nakaka-iyak ba ‘yung story, nakakatawa ba, it has to be entertaining, it has to be showstopping. So ito ‘yung mga ideas or mga sinasabi ko sa kanilang mga tips.”
‘Battle of the Judges,’ the new Kapuso reality talent competition, features Alonzo as a judge and mentor to the 24 contestants vying for their place as the ultimate winner.
Joining Alonzo on the judging panel are talk show host Boy Abunda, comedian Jose Manalo, and GMA7 Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes.
Aside from the banter-packed judges, Asia’s Multimedia Star and Kapuso actor Alden Richards hosts the reality TV competition.
‘Battle of the Judges’ premieres on GMA Network on July 15, every Saturday.
