On August 30, 2023, Awra Briguela lodged a counter-complaint against Mark Christian Ravana at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office in response to their involvement in an altercation at The Bolthole Bar in Poblacion, Makati City.
Awra personally appeared before Senior Assistant Prosecutor Arvin Amata to officially file the complaint. Accompanied by his legal counsel, Atty. Mikaelo Jaime Reyes, they initiated the legal process to address the allegations.
During this legal proceeding, the paths of Awra and Ravana crossed as both parties were expected to participate in the preliminary investigation. However, it was determined that one of Awra’s crucial witnesses could not attend the scheduled session, leading to the rescheduling of the proceedings regarding Ravana’s complaint.
Awra Briguela is now confronted with three additional complaints at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office, a development that followed the initial legal action prompted by the bar brawl.
The complaints against Awra encompass a range of charges, including violations of Article 283 (light threats) under the Revised Penal Code, violation of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) also under the RPC, and a violation of Section 11(c) in relation to Section 11(a) of the Safe Space Act, commonly known as the Bawal Bastos Law.
In addition to these newly filed complaints, Awra faces charges of slight physical injuries and simple disobedience to a person in authority.
Awra had been detained in the Makati Custodial Jail but secured his release on July 1, 2023, after posting bail amounting to six thousand pesos.
Vice Ganda, Awra’s manager, reiterated their unwavering support for the young artist amidst the mounting legal challenges and emphasized their commitment to assist Awra throughout the legal process.
