On July 21, Kapuso actor and Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards discussed how acting and gaming helped him handle stress.
At the media conference for ‘Magpakailanman,’ which LionhearTV covered, Richards acknowledged the stress that he experiences as an actor.
“Of course, tayo tao lang. Doon nga po pumapasok ‘yung ‘tao lang tayo,’ Kahit gaano mo katagal i-shield ‘yung sarili mo sa mga bagay na ‘to na nasa paligid, ‘yung mga tao sa paligid mo, na hindi ka gusto, and that creates false news about you.
“Na ayaw mong mag-react. I [really] never react to these people because I know myself, I know the truth, and I don’t [really] have to explain myself every now and then pag nagkakaroon po ng issues.”
He then noted how gaming and acting helped help escape from the pressure and stress he experienced.
“Of course may family problem, may business as well, and then ‘yung different kinds of pressures. So dumadating po talaga sa point na nahahabol niya po ako ng sabay-sabay. And we’re acting na kahit papaano, every now and then, acting and gaming, natatakasan ko po sila.”
He explained that gaming and acting allow him a break from the overwhelming stress he experiences as an actor.
“And then after a while, kasi minsan kapag nalulunod tayo sa problema, hindi natin naiisip ‘yung solution, dahil masyadong malaki ‘yung problema para makapag-isip tayo ng tama.
“So with the things that I love to do, which is acting and gaming, at least nagkakaroon ako ng time off, nae-eject ko ‘yung sarili ko doon, and then nakakapag-isip ako ng mga solusyon.”
He then considered his current mindset on handling stress as one of his life lessons in showbiz.
“Kasi, of course, nandiyan ang prayers para tulungan tayo, pero minsan kasi may mga problema na hindi kayang ma-solve ng kahit sino sa paligid mo other than yourself, ikaw ang magtutulong, ikaw ang magso-solve. So ‘yun po ‘yung mga life lessons na natutunan ko dito sa industriya sa pagtra-trabaho ko po sa showbiz.”
As for his upcoming Magpakailanman special, Richards stars in four independent episodes of the Kapuso anthology series starting August 5.
The episodes include ‘A Runner To Remember,’ ‘Epal Dream Boy,’ ‘The Lost Boy,’ and ‘Sa Puso at Isipan.’
