In wedding vows, we make promises of love to keep our partners and make the relationship strong. To stand by each other, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness, in health, till death do you part.
But sometimes, before we can even make these promises, we fall short and face uncertainties that make us question the relationship that we’re in. Then we realize that in some cases, maybe loving someone also means letting them go.
From the author of “Para Sa Hopeless Romantic” and “Para Sa Broken Hearted” – Marcelo Santos III. A heart-wrenching series that will teach us about love and when to give it a second or even a third chance. Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko, streaming exclusively on Viva One this August 21, 2023.
A couple’s relationship is on the rocks just weeks before they face each other at the altar and vow to spend a lifetime together.
Allie (Coleen Garcia) and Benedict (Carlo Aquino) met through a whirlwind romance and managed to stay strong and keep their relationship. Years later, Benedict proposes to Allie, and the two look forward to their years of growing old together.
Things look promising for the couple, but as they prepare for their wedding, the buried cracks and flaws of their relationship start to resurface and make them rethink their decision.
Allie and Benedict also stumble on close friends facing relationship problems, which brings more confusion to the struggling couple. Georgina (Rhen Escaño) and Mark (Jerome Ponce) are in an LDR situation (long-distance relationship) and are slowly drifting apart. Sandy (Ryza Cenon) and Derrick (Kiko Estrada) are a married couple who have problems with infidelity and a broken ego.
With all their problems and the unpleasant stories they hear from other couples, will Allie and Benedict make it through and say their “I Do’s”?
Produced by Studio Viva, Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko is a series directed by Carlo Enciso Catu. This is Carlo Catu’s first project with Viva, and the director expressed nothing but gratitude in doing the project “Sobrang nakaka-excite… nakakakilig at nakaka-excite” (I’m very excited… I’m thrilled and excited (for the series)) says Carlo Catu from their last digital story conference
The series has a star-studded cast of today’s best dramatic actors and actresses – Coleen Garcia, Carlo Aquino, Ryza Cenon, Kiko Estrada, Rhen Escaño, and Jerome Ponce. “I haven’t worked with anybody here before. I’m really excited. Kailangan mag-translate sa screen yung chemistry namin.” (Our chemistry needs to translate on screen) says Coleen about her expectations in doing the series.
Carlo, on the other hand wants a light vibe at work, “Fun lang kahit masakit yung ginagawa namin, importante magaan yung set.” (I’d like for everyone to have fun even if what we’re doing is a drama, what’s important is to have a happy set.)
The cast and even Marcelo Santos III also expressed their thoughts on the concept of giving up on things, “Darating tayo sa point ng buhay natin na susuko tayo dahil sa mga challenges sa buhay natin na hindi natin kaya i-handle, but at the end of the day kumakapit pa rin tayo…” (We will reach a point in our lives where we want to give up because of the challenges that we can’t handle, but still at the end of the day we choose to hold on) Ryza shares. Rhen also shares about her never say die attitude “Ako yung tipo ng taong ilalaban ko hanggang huli… para wala akong pagsisihan.” (I’m the type of person who will fight until the end just so I won’t have any regrets.) Marcelo Santos III also made an eye-opening statement about how giving up is not always a negative thing “hindi naman lahat ng pagsuko ay mali, kasi minsan kapag sumusuko tayo may mga bagong door, opportunities na dumarating…” (Giving up isn’t always wrong, sometimes when we do, it opens new doors, new opportunities for you.)
