TVJ’s new noontime show “EAT” premiered on July 1 on TV5, showcasing a variety of exciting portions and segments that delighted their dedicated viewers.
During the pilot episode featuring Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, the stage came alive with talented dancers and performers, each segment introduced with flashy on-screen titles.
One segment, “Babala, Wag Kayong Ganuun,” delivered a powerful message against being judgmental. Another segment titled “Wala Ka sa APo Ko” featured kids dancing to popular tunes and dancesport moves.
The show also brought forward “Vortas 5,” a unique and captivating dance competition showcasing well-built men displaying their physiques.
Viewers were thrilled with other segments like “Perapy,” “Legit is it,” “That’s My Boyfriend,” “Password Please,” and “Oo Hindi Pwede.”
The hosts introduced “Da Bar,” a skit inspired by “Iskul Bukol,” featuring Ryzza Mae as Miss Tapsi, paying homage to Mely Tagasa’s character from a 1990s sitcom.
Paolo Ballesteros encouraged viewers to look forward to these exciting segments, stating, “‘Yan ang mga aabangan natin. Simula Lunes ‘yan mga Dabarkads.”
The show airs every Monday to Friday at 12nn, Saturday at 11:30am on TV5.
During the closing moments of the pilot episode, TVJ revealed the meaning behind their show’s title. Vic enthusiastically shared, “Ang title po namin, eto na, maraming naghihintay nito. Ang title po namin ay ang title na alam niyo kung ano ang tawag sa amin. Ipinapangako po namin na E-A-T, everyday ang tawanan.” He humorously added that it could also stand for “Eto ang Tinadhana.”
Joey, known for coining “Eat Bulaga,” playfully suggested “Eto ang Tears,” given his teary-eyed moments during the telecast.
“Eto ang True. Basta E-A-T. Eto ang Title,” Joey reiterated, repeating what he had said in their opening spiel.
Despite the passing of time and the changes they have gone through, Joey assured, “Manghina man ang tuhod namin at pumuti ang buhok, hindi magbabago ang misyon namin na magdadala ng tuwa at saya sa inyong lahat.”
Vic concluded with heartfelt words, “Kaya buong bansa, buong mundo E-A-T, everyday always together.”
