Get ready to enter the brilliant mind of London-based singer, songwriter and defiantly expressive pop practitioner Tiggi Hawke in her first ever full album Ascension. “Ascension is my first full body of work that’s been put together with an album in mind, and I really wanted to tell a story throughout it.“Starting with ‘V838’ and ‘Giants’, this album is a musical and visual journey through Tiggi’s brain, a story about emotions, and taking the first steps to space of self acceptance and even celebration. For example, ‘Pity Party’ practically shouts for people to feel their sadness, and to feel it with other people as well, while ‘OK’ is all about still needing that inner reassurance in life and relationships. Wrapping things up is Focus Track ‘Sadurday Night’, which, in Tiggi’s words “the most feel good track of all of them!”

Focus track of ‘Ascension’, Sadurday Night is about being sad, but instead of wallowing in self-pity, it’s telling yourself “I’m sad, but whatever, I’m not gonna let this stop me having a good time” By far the most upbeat sound of the album, Tiggi was wary of writing songs that felt “too happy”, but something about this melody and lyrics stuck and stayed in her mind the whole time. Admitting that she sometimes find herself dwelling in her self-pity quite a bit, this song brought her to the realisation that it’s genuinely time to step out of her sadness, and that’s why she chose ‘Sadurday Night’ to wrap the album up in an upbeat and positive manner.
“I’m not gonna let you, Let you make me sad on a Saturday night” – Sadurday Night
“This has been a rollercoaster of my own emotions and the ups and downs that come from the work that has been put in but also from day-to-day life, because that never stops either! It’s been therapeutic, to say the least, to get all my feelings of alienation and never quite fitting in out of my brain and turn those darker thoughts into something honest and raw but hopefully relatable. I can honestly say, I have never been more proud of the songs that I’ve put out (and the ones that are just about to come out!), I’ve had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented writers, producers, mix and master engineers to make this happen, and it’s really a sum of all their parts as much as it is mine which I love! It really mirrors my own journey and it has pushed ALL of my boundaries (some good some bad!) but I wouldn’t change a thing because it’s all lead to this point and hand on my heart, I am beyond excited!”
‘Ascension’ is now available on all major streaming platforms.
