Megastar Sharon Cuneta announced that she will be joining the premiere of TVJ’s new noontime show on TV5, which will air on Saturday, July 1, 2023.
In her Instagram post on Thursday, June 29, Cuneta revealed that she will be joining the OG ‘Eat Bulaga!’ trio namely Tito, Vic, and Joey collectively known as TVJ as they launch their new noontime show on TV5. This comes after their departure from TAPE Inc. which produces ‘Eat Bulaga!’ on GMA Network.
According to the megastar, even before having ‘Legit Dabarkads’ or Ice Seguerra, she was already considered the TVJ’s baby during their early days on RPN-9, the noontime show’s original home.
“See you on July 1!!! Without my Daddy Tito Sotto, who discovered me, I never would have become a singer or (more importantly) have had a second father; without Tito Vic Sotto, I never would have had my first memorable hits after ‘Mr. D.J.’; without Tito Joey De Leon, I never would have had memorable hits after ‘Mr. D.J.’ as well, or a first co-host on my own ‘The Sharon Cuneta Show’ from 1986 on IBC 13 until around 1988 on ABS-CBN,” Cuneta shared.
“I have a 44-year history with ‘Eat Bulaga!’; I used to appear there regularly starting in their first home, RPN-9, in my St. Paul uniform without makeup! As much as I love my ABS-CBN Kapamilya, I could NEVER NOT give importance to my ‘Eat Bulaga’ family.
“My home station, ABS-CBN, has known and respected this since I joined it in 1988. Even before there were legit Dabarkads or @iceseguerra in ‘Little Miss Philippines’ on ‘Eat Bulaga,’ I was already their baby! And I will be there for them whenever they call me,” she added.
In conclusion, the Mega Star said that it is part of her giving back to the show, asserting that no one can put the iconic noontime show down.
“It’s PAYBACK TIME, which is how it forever will be for me towards ‘Eat Bulaga’! No one can ever put a beloved institution down.”
Meanwhile, when asked by a netizen in the comment section if she would remain a Kapamilya, Sharon had this quick response: “Of course! But I started with ‘Eat Bulaga!’ and we are family!”
