Decades after Rico Yan’s passing, former sexy star Sabrina M surprised the public when she revealed that she had a relationship with the actor.
According to former the sexy star during the ‘Manang’ presscon on June 6, she was the girlfriend of Rico Yan when the actor passed away, not Claudine Barretto.
According to Sabrina M, she and Rico had a long-term relationship. In fact, she claimed to be the actor’s last girlfriend before his untimely death, not Claudine Barretto.
Sabrina M clarified that Claudine was aware of their relationship and insisted that she was not the reason for their separation.
“[Naging kami] after Claudine. Matagal din po. Taon. More than two years actually,” she said. “I think wala namang magiging problema kay Claudine kasi nung naging kami naman ni Rico, tapos na sila. Hindi ko naman pinanghimasukan si Rico during the time na sila.”
She added, “Hindi [ako yung naging dahilan ng breakup nila] Wala na sila talaga nung pumasok ako sa buhay ni Rico.”
Sabrina M also recounted her experiences when Rico passed away because the public was unaware that she was the actor’s girlfriend at the time of the incident.
She said, “Nung namatay siya, hindi mo makuhang umiyak eh. Makikita ka ng mga tao, makikita ka ng mga reporters. ‘Bakit umiiyak si Sabrina M doon?’ And that time, may issue na about Rico, ayoko nang dagdagan.”
But according to Sabrina M, she was able to attend the wake and burial of her former boyfriend. “Nakalapit ako nung [ililibing] na siya, inabutan pa ako ni Bobby Yan ng bulaklak para iabot kay Rico. Alam ni Bobby. Napakabait naman nila.”
Sabrina M also shared that she and Rico kept their relationship hidden to protect their personal lives. “Nung may mga lumalabas na issue sa amin, ang dami na eh, dinudurog na agad ako dahil siyempre di ba, Rico Yan ‘yan eh.”
“Bakit siya pumatol sa isang sexy star, bakit siya pumatol sa isang hubadera eh Rico Yan is Rico Yan,” she added.
As of this writing, neither Claudine Barretto or Rico Yan’s family especially Bobby Yan have issued any statement regarding this revelation.
