GMA Network newest crime-thriller primetime drama ‘Royal Blood’ has reached its highest TV ratings to date following the death of Tirso Cruz III’s character Gustavo.
According to the latest rating report from the Nielsen NUTAM People survey, ‘Royal Blood’ achieved a rating of 10.3 percent on its Wednesday, July 5 episode. This is the highest rating obtained by the series since its pilot on June 19.
‘Royal Blood”s highest rating was preluded by consecutive 10.1 percent ratings on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4.
In the record-setting episode, the police started investigating the stabbing incident that occurred during Archie’s (Aidan Veneracion) birthday celebration, where Gustavo was killed.
Napoy (Dingdong Dantes) was the first to undergo questioning in the investigation. He was shown a viral video depicting the events leading up to Gustavo being stabbed.
Napoy explained his suspicion that their father was already inside the mysterious box before he entered, suggesting that Gustavo was stabbed prior to the magician’s magic trick.
The lead investigator then questioned the magician, who explained that he only followed Diana’s (Megan Young) instructions to attend to Gustavo, as he was supposed to emerge from the magical box holding a cake as a surprise for Archie.
Napoy couldn’t help but suspect the peculiar behavior of his brother Kristoff, so he approached Diana to speak with her. It was during this conversation that Napoy discovered Diana’s attempt to discard Gustavo’s cufflink, which Kristoff had seen in her pocket.
As a result, Napoy confronted Kristoff in front of everyone. Kristoff tried to explain that he simply found the cufflink in his pocket. However, an argument ensued between Napoy and Kristoff because of what happened.
The siblings’ blame game only stopped when Emil (Arthur Solinap) arrived with the news that their father Gustavo was already gone, that he had passed away.
Meanwhile, ‘Royal Blood”s high ratings seemingly didn’t translate to the online world, as it was heavily beaten by rival The Iron Heart.
According to Philippine Entertainment’s Facebook page monitoring, The Iron Heart earned more than 260K live concurrent viewers on July 5, compared to ‘Royal Blood”s more than 25K.
