At the Kapamilya Kalayaan Karavan 2023, Richard Gutierrez was asked if he was open to new acting roles.
“Are you open to new roles like a madman or even a homosexual?” the interviewer asked.
The actor responded positively saying that as an actor, he is interested in portraying different kinds of roles.
Gutierrez said, “As an actor I like portraying different kinds of roles as long as it’s like exciting to me, relatable to me and it’s the character I want to tell the story of. Every character is challenging. You have to evolve and find connection with that character. Yes, I am open to different kinds of role, definitely, as an actor, that’s always part of the job and exciting.”
He added that despite his interest to expand his career to different ventures, he is currently prioritizing his role in ‘The Iron Heart’ which has its upcoming season.
“Right now I’m kind of focused on this project because we just got extended and we’re thinking, evolving the storylines and thinking of inviting other actors to come in as guests. My full attention now is in Iron Heart. Obviously I have dreams and goals after this, but right now all my energy is focused on the Iron Heart,” the actor said.
His twin brother Raymond Gutierrez actually came out as part of the LGBTQIA+ Community in his exclusive interview with Mega Magazine last August 2021.
He declared, “I’m here to formally say that I am a proud member of the LGBTQ community. And it feels great saying that publicly because I am.”
The two started their career in showbiz as child actors. Alongside their other family members, the twins acted in different movies such as ‘Kambal Tuko’ and ‘One Two Bato, Three Four Bapor’ in 1988. However, only Richard went on to continue his career in acting while Raymond focused on hosting.
Richard Gutierrez eventually became a successful actor and even regarded as ‘Fantaserye King’ for his main roles in fantasy series.
He played the lead role in the iconic series ‘Mulawin’ aired from August 2004 to March 2005. The show was a success that it had its movie version with the same name. This jumpstarted his career and got more lead roles for GMA 7 shows.
In 2009, he starred in the horror film ‘Patient X.’ In 2012, he also starred in ‘Makapiling Kang Muli,’ a heavy drama and action series.
In 2017, he starred in another horror fantasy series ‘La Luna Sangre’ alongside Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. He also appeared in ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ in 2020.
In 2022, he began playing the role of Apollo Adelantar, an undercover agent and the main character of ‘The Iron Heart’ seen on Kapamilya Channel and other platforms. The series is directed by Lester Pimentel Ong and Richard Ibasco Arellano.
Because of the viewer’s warm reception, the series is now on its brand-new season with more action-packed and cinematic scenes.
