On July 12, Kapuso real-life couple Rayver Cruz and Julie Anne San Jose talked about their readiness to take on more mature roles.
At the media event for ‘The Cheating Game,’ Cruz clarified that they would not necessarily accept ‘daring’ projects but more mature roles.
“Hindi siguro not necessarily super daring, pero ‘yung yes, ‘yung more mature roles siguro, pwede naman kasi iba-iba naman ng stories and depende sa takbo ng story at sa gusto ng mga tao di ba? As an artist, as an actor and actress like si Julie na sa caliber niya kahit saan mo talaga ilagay ‘yan, gagawin niya talaga ng maganda at maayos.”
He also talked about how mainstream movies implement restrictions on their content.
“And nasa movie naman tayo eh, may restrictions naman tayo pagka-big screen, may hangganan lang naman ‘yung mature– intimate scenes na pwedeng gawin.”
As for San Jose, she explained that ‘daring’ projects do not necessarily mean showing off their skin as artists.
“Doon naman sa roles, ako naman I’m always up for a challenge. And ‘yung daring kasi, iba-ibang definition ‘yan. Not necessarily naman kailangan magpakita ng skin or like maging super obscure, like intimate.”Â
She maintained that ‘The Cheating Game’ is one of their bolder and stronger projects as Kapuso stars.
“Ako I believe ‘The Cheating Game’ is one of those movies na na nagawa namin ni Ray, na mas bolder, stronger. “
The real-life couple also recounted accepting the project before the pandemic.
“Yes, first of all, noong sinabi sa amin ‘yung project way, way back, three years ago, talagang no hesitation na, nag-oo po talaga kami agad. Kasi nga, excited na rin kami to do a film together dahil nga sobrang close namin before,” said Cruz.
“Of course, no hesitation din, I believe it’s one of the acting projects din na na-offer sa aming dalawa ni Ray together. Before nag-start kasi kami sa Studio 7 pa lang, tapos nagkaroon kami ng supporters ni Ray, so may clamor from the fans,” San Jose added.
