This week, two new Kapamilya afternoon teleseryes made their debut, ‘Pira-pirasong Paraiso’ and ‘Nag-aapoy Na Damdamin.’
However, it seemed televiewers are still warming up with ABS-CBN’s comeback to the afternoon rating race.
The pilot episodes of the first co-production projects between ABS-CBN and TV5, ‘Pira-pirasong Paraiso’ and ‘Nag-aapoy Na Damdamin,’ aired on Tuesday, July 25. According to the latest Nielsen NUTAM People ratings report, these new afternoon dramas received a lukewarm response from viewers, leaving their Kapuso rival as the reigning afternoon lineup.
‘Pira-pirasong Paraiso’ obtained a rating of 1.6 percent, which was 8.2 percent lower than its Kapuso competitor, ‘Magandang Dilag,’ which achieved a rating of 8.2 percent. Similarly, ‘Nag-aapoy Na Damdamin’ scored a rating of 1.4 percent, falling 5.7 percent behind its rival series, ‘The Seed Of Love,’ which secured a rating of 7.1 percent.
Even in terms of online views, the ABS-CBN-TV5 collaboration series fell short compared to their Kapuso counterparts.
‘Pira-pirasong Paraiso’ managed to garner over 316k views, while ‘Magandang Dilag’ amassed more than 507k online views. Likewise, ‘Nag-aapoy Na Damdamin’ accumulated more than 143k views, but this was over 300k less than ‘The Seed of Love’s’ impressive total of more than 474k views.
Considering ABS-CBN’s prolonged absence from the afternoon block, these new offerings face a baptism of fire since GMA Network’s afternoon lineup has been the default channel for Filipino households for quite some time.
The question now is whether ‘Pira-pirasong Paraiso’ and ‘Nag-aapoy Na Damdamin’ can restore ABS-CBN’s luster in the afternoon block, just like during Kapamilya Gold’s time, or if GMA Network will continue its dominance in the afternoon prime spot. We’ll all see.
