Paolo Contis couldn’t hold back his frustration at being called “Fake Bulaga” during the 44th-anniversary celebration of “Eat Bulaga!” on Saturday.
As one of the show’s hosts, Paolo expressed his disappointment and defended the authenticity of their role in the program.
“Mahalaga rin po sa akin na sabihan ang ginagawa po namin ay totoo. Marami pong nagsasabi kami po ay fake. Maraming nagsasabi kami ay “Fake Bulaga.” Wala pong peke sa pagmamahal ko sa grupong ‘to,” he said.
He emphasized that their love for the show and the viewers is genuine, and despite being new hosts, “Eat Bulaga!” has become a significant part of their lives.
Paolo further shared that it hurts when they are called “Fake Bulaga” because there is nothing fake about what they do and the genuine smiles they see from the people. He stands firm that their love and commitment to the show are sincere.
“Kaya masakit po sa’min kapag tinatawag niyo kaming ‘Fake Bulaga’ dahil wala pong fake sa ginagawa namin, sa ngiti na nakikita namin sa mga tao. Wala po,” he added.
Paolo joined the show as a host on June 5, a few weeks after the departure of the original hosts, TVJ (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon), and other Dabarkads from the program.
He and Isko Moreno now lead the show on GMA Network, while the original hosts and other Dabarkads celebrate the 44th anniversary on their new home, TV5.
