On June 30, Kapuso host Paolo Contis revealed Eat Bulaga’s preparations for the first airing of TVJ’s (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey De Leon) noontime show on TV5 and ‘It’s Showtime’ on GTV.
At the media event for Bubble Gang’s new timeslot, which LionhearTV covered, Contis highlighted their increased prizes in response to the new noontime shows from TV5 and GTV.
“Hindi, marami eh, actually, medyo malala, grabe ‘yung mga papremyo namin tomorrow, tomorrow of course.”
He also considered the new noontime show landscape in the Philippines a cause for celebration.
“Alam mo kasi tomorrow para sa akin ha, maaring sabihin ninyo na ka-plastikan ‘to eh tomorrow, it’s a celebration, first time in history na tatlo ang noontime show. So, wala namang point na maglaban-laban. Di ba? Kasi ang tao, manonood naman ‘yan kung anong gusto nilang panoorin. At least ngayon tatlo na ‘yung pwede nilang panoorin.”
He then acknowledged that their job as hosts of Eat Bulaga is to convince the audience to tune in to their noontime show.
“Ngayon ang trabaho namin, ay mapilit at makumbinsi ‘yung tao na kami ‘yun panoorin, at magagawa lang namin ‘yun kapag ginagawa namin ng tama ‘yung trabaho namin. It will be very challenging.”
He affirmed that he would understand if viewers prefer to watch TVJ’s show or It’s Showtime.
“Oo naman, oo naman, kaya nga tayo may free will, sila na ‘yun kung ano–tama ka curiosity or pwede nating sabihin na nakasanayan. Mahirap tapatan ‘yung 44 years. ‘Yun ‘yung nakasanayan.”
However, Contis maintained that he would still focus on celebrating the revamped Eat Bulaga being on air after a month.
“Kami– bukas para sa amin celebration, first month namin bukas. Monthsary namin bukas. So kami, ‘yung mga tao, pinagtatawanan kami kasi noong naka-isang Linggo di ba? Nag-speech ako, ‘Itong mga ‘to, naka-isang linggo na kayo, sa amin big deal ‘yun. Sa pinagdaanan namin pressure, bashing, naka-isang linggo kami na kami-kami ‘yung mga magkakapit. Malaking bagay ‘yun.
“At tomorrow, hindi namin iniisip ‘yung first day ng It’s Showtime sa GTV, hindi namin iniisip ‘yung– ang iniisip namin naka-one month kami, proud kami doon.”
As for the new lineup of hosts, Bubble Gang features Michael V, Contis, Chariz Solomon, Kokoy De Santos, Edgar Allan Gusman, Buboy Villar, Ana Barro, Chesca Fausto, Mika Salamanca, Jelai Andres, and Kokoy De Santos.
