In an eagerly anticipated showdown that is set to captivate Filipino viewers, three of the country’s largest television networks are about to engage in a fierce battle for supremacy.
Starting July 1, GMA Network’s ‘Eat Bulaga!,’ TV5’s upcoming TVJ variety show, and ABS-CBN’s ‘It’s Showtime’ on GTV and A2Z will compete for viewership, ratings, and the highly sought-after advertising revenues in the noontime slot.
After parting ways with TAPE, Inc., Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon affectionately known as TVJ, were warmly welcomed by TV5. While the name of their new show is yet to be decided, one thing is certain: their collective talent and charm will continue to be a force to be reckoned with.
TVJ expressed their determination to carry on the rich legacy of ‘Eat Bulaga’ even in the midst of an ongoing legal battle for the show’s name. They have proposed alternative names such as ‘E.A.T. Bulaga!’ and ‘Legit Bulaga!,’ assuring fans that they will preserve the spirit and essence of their beloved show. The new TVJ noontime show will begin airing on July 1, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Moreover, ‘It’s Showtime’ made a daring move to GTV as ABS-CBN inked their agreement with GMA 7 on June 28. The new TVJ show replaces ‘It’s Showtime’ after airing on the Kapatid network for a year.
‘It’s Showtime’ is scheduled to be seen on GTV from Monday to Saturday at 11:30 AM. With its new home, ‘It’s Showtime’ aims to captivate audiences with its trademark brand of fun and excitement while embracing the fresh opportunities that GTV has to offer.
Furthermore, after an astonishing 44-year run, the original hosts of ‘Eat Bulaga!’ bid farewell to the show due to multiple issues, including legal battles and financial challenges. The TAPE Inc.-produced show, with new faces including former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Cassy and Mavy Legaspi, Buboy Villar, Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya, and Alexa Miro, plans to enhance beloved segments while introducing new additions in place of the iconic trio and former Dabarkads.
As the battle for the noontime slot commences, all eyes will be on these three TV giants as they vie for dominance. With the Kapuso, Kapatid, and Kapamilya competing head-to-head, only time will reveal who will emerge victorious in this cutthroat competition for the hearts, minds, and TV screens of Filipino viewers. Who will the Filipinos watch?
