On July 28, netizens criticized broadcast journalist Noli De Castro after he commented on Maine Mendoza and Arjo Atayde’s wedding day.
During the final messages of the ABS-CBN new program TV Patrol, De Castro seemingly called out the couple’s wedding day in connection to the people affected by typhoon Egay.
“Kayo habang kinakasal, kawawa naman ‘yung mga binagyo.”
His co-hosts, Karen Davila and Bernadette Sembrano, tried to steer the conversation, “Eto naman, o.”
However, De Castro continued with his comment.
“Tapos si Egay na kalalabas lang ay may papalit naman na si Falcon. At ang possibility na maaaring ang dinaanan ni Egay ay daanan din ni Falcon at mabigat ‘yan na pasanin sa mga kababayan na hindi pa ring nakakabangon hanggang ngayon. Andoon pa rin sa lugar kung saan napinsala sila ng bagyo at binabaha.”

As for the couple, Mendoza and Atayde tied the knot on July 28, one year after their engagement, at a private event at Alphaland Baguio Mountain Lodges Chapel, Baguio City, Benguet.
