On June 30, Kapuso comedian Michael V. also known as Bitoy admitted feeling sad about the split of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon from TAPE Inc. and ‘Eat Bulaga.’
At the media event for the new time slot of ‘Bubble Gang,’ Michael V. admitted that he was saddened by the departure of TVJ from TAPE Inc. and their noontime show.
“Sa Eat Bulaga, number one malungkot. Nalungkot ako doon sa disagreement and I’m kind of hoping na maayos eventually. Pero since parang ito na, nag-declare na ng parang separation talaga, I’m still glad na nandiyan pa rin ang TVJ.”
However, he acknowledged the historic noontime television moment with ‘Eat Bulaga,’ TVJ’s ‘E.A.T,’ and ‘It’s Showtime’ which happened last July 1.
“Nandiyan pa rin ‘yung Eat Bulaga, tapos ngayon with the addition of It’s Showtime, talagang panalong-panalo ang audience ngayon. I want to see how this plays out. Excited akong makita kung ano ‘yung ma-i-o-offer ng tatlong shows.”
As for possibly guesting in any of the noontime shows, Michael V. clarified that he would still need permission from his home network.
“Sa lahat actually, parang feeling ko kailangan pa ring magpaalam no. Kasi at this point under contract ako ng– may network contract ako. So, for approval naman ‘yun palagi. Tsaka maluwag naman ang network sa mga guesting-guesting na ‘yan eh. Especially if I have something to promote, kapag kailangan talaga ‘yung mileage, I don’t think they would mind.”
When asked if he would have transferred with TVJ and the Dabarkads to TV5, he responded by saying, “Huwag ninyo akong papiliin, may Bubble Gang pa ako, may Pepito Manaloto pa ko. Kailangan ko pang alagaan ang mga bangkang ito na lulubog.”
Michael V. was part of ‘Eat Bulaga’ from 2004 to 2016 and appeared on the noontime show as a guest host in the following years.
As for ‘Bubble Gang,’ the longest-running comedy-gag show features a new lineup of hosts with Michael V., Paolo Contis, Chariz Solomon, Edgar Allan Guzman, Buboy Villar, Ana Barro, Chesca Fausto, Mika Salamanca, Jelai Andres, Kokoy De Santos, and Betong Sumaya.
After 27 years of being on the Friday late-night slot, Bubble Gang moves to Sunday, 6 p.m. starting July 9.
